Frequently Asked Questions

Questions

1. What is the difference between Changi Airport Group and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore?
Singapore Changi Airport was corporatised on 1 July 2009. This resulted in the formation of Changi Airport Group (CAG) and the restructuring of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).

As the airport company managing Changi Airport, CAG undertakes key functions focusing on airport operations and management, air hub development, commercial activities and airport emergency services. Through its subsidiary Changi Airports International, the Group invests in and manages foreign airports to spread the success of Changi Airport around the world.

CAAS retains its role as the regulatory authority for civil aviation in Singapore and continues to provide air navigation services. It also has a role in the growth and development of the air hub and aviation industry, while overseeing and promoting safety in the industry.
